Research partnerships such as those at the Queensland Bioscience Precinct will provide solutions to the major problems facing the nation and the world.

CSIRO research into livestock production in northern Australia is largely carried out at the JM Rendel Laboratory and Belmont Research Station in Rockhampton. By December 2009, research currently conducted at the Rendel Laboratory will be transferred to Townsville and Brisbane, but the Belmont Research Station will continue to operate.

CSIRO Entomology Long Pocket Laboratories have built an international reputation for research into the management of insect pests and weeds.

The Queensland Centre for Advanced Technologies (QCAT) is a joint venture between CSIRO and the Queensland Government. It is a multi-divisional research site where innovative solutions for the mining, manufacturing and energy sectors are produced.

Research at Food Science Australia’s Cannon Hill site is focussed on the development of muscle foods.

CSIRO’s North Queensland Science Education Centre (NQSEC) in Townsville is the hub for CSIRO’s science education programs in North Queensland.

Scientists at CSIRO's Cleveland Laboratory, south-east of Brisbane, study marine-based aquaculture and biotechnology, and northern fisheries and ecosystems.

Based in Toowoomba, Queensland, the Agricultural Production Systems Research Unit (APSRU) is a collaborative organisation with researchers from CSIRO, the University Of Queensland and the Queensland Departments of Primary Industries and Fisheries and Natural Resources and Mines.

The Davies Laboratory is located in Townsville, North Queensland, serves as base for researchers from CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems, CSIRO Land and Water and CSIRO Plant Industry.

CSIRO’s Atherton Laboratory is located in the heart of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area in far north Queensland.
